3. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes have broken down and the sauce has thickened.

4. Using an immersion blender, blend the sauce until smooth. If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can transfer the sauce to a regular blender and blend in batches.

5. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper to the sauce and stir to combine. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings as needed.

6. Once the sauce is ready, you can either use it immediately on a homemade pizza or preserve it for future use. To preserve the pizza sauce, ladle it into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean, damp cloth and seal with lids.

7. Process the jars in a boiling water canner for 35 minutes. Once processed, remove the jars from the canner and allow them to cool completely. Check the seal of the jars and store them in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
